We Were Green When it Was Just a Color.
From day one, San Chez Bistro has been on the leading edge of
programs and technologies that minimize our impact on our good
earth. After all, it is the
source of the raw materials we use to create our fabulous food, not
to mention where we live.
We have always recycled paper and cardboard. In 1999, we extended
our program to include clear glass, aluminum, and plastic using the
City of Grand Rapids recycling program.
Today our recycling and composting program is among our more
important community initiatives because it has the greatest impact
and broadest involvement within our community. Currently we recycle
32,000 gallons of mixed material and compost 800 cubic yards of
organic material every year effectively eliminating over 90% of our
waste stream from landfills and incinerators.
We are part of the
Green Power Partnership
which is a voluntary program that the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency developed to encourage organizations to buy green power as a way to reduce the environmental impacts associated with purchased electricity use.
See
Our Green Power Partnership Certificate from the EPA. We are
also part of WasteWise,

The
Greener Restaurants program also
provides guidance to restaurants on how to implement environmentally-friendly practices.

National Restaurant Association.
